In the Open Studio, an object has taken on—and will continue to hold for the next two years—a central role: a bundle of fabric, probably from the 1950s–60s.

The cloth was gifted to us by Anna Patrignani, a seamstress from Ponte Sasso. Bundles are long cloths made of hemp, linen, or raw fabric, handwoven on a domestic loom, once used as dowries or linens and often stored rolled up.

On the cloth today, words remain imprinted after walks and conversations, along with simple drawings. All these traces have been embroidered with today’s threads, by people of today, who have thus picked up the threads of previous discussions or simply begun to share their own thoughts.

The people who visited us brought ideas, insights, and questions.
